Learn how to create a Sweet and Sassy Cheese Board

Mother’s Day is around the corner! We created a special tasting box to celebrate the beautiful women who made us everything we are and continue to love and support us no matter how old we get!

This box, called the Sweet and Sassy, is a fantastic example of how we create combinations of textures and flavors that make it very easy to plate a fun and fully loaded cheese board. Let's unpack it together!

We start with the super stars, cheese! This trio has a great range of flavors and texture. One of the most approachable and popular cheeses on any cheese plate will be cheddar. So we start with our 12-month cheddar. It's a classic rich cheddar - smooth, creamy, and with a hint of green grass thanks to our locally sourced grass-fed cows milk. Next we add soft and spreadable Apricot Honey Fromage Blanc which is crisp, fruity, and a little tart. We round out our cheese choices with a unique Cranberry Walnut Cheddar, which brings together our classic aged cheddar, local Bandon-grown cranberry, and a bit of crunch with walnuts. Cranberry Walnut has a nutty, sweet profile, which stands out from the other two but also lives in the same flavor family.

Add islands of cheese to different spots on the board to start creating your tasting terrain. We like to cut our cheese into different shapes to help them stand out from each other. For this tray, we broke our cranberry walnut cheddar into big chunks that are easy to snag, and sliced our cheddar into thick slices. The Fromage Blanc goes right in the middle in it's container - so easy!

This box has crunchy Oregon Berry candied popcorn, a jar of cranberry butter, Gourmet Chocolate enrobed Cranberries. Use small bowls of these to start filling in the blank spaces in between the cheese. We also created a featured spot for the amazing Fromage Blanc chocolate truffles that come in this special box! The only item we purchased to finish off this gorgeous board is fresh fruit. We're getting into the season with much more fruit variety, so pick some of your favorites that are easy to pick up, such as strawberries, mango, grapes and raspberries. To finish off your board, break open that pack of crisp cheese pairing crackers and create a few rivers of crackers to build visual appeal and fill in those last empty spaces. If you want to add salami or other cured meats, by all means do so!

This baby is now ready to serve! We hope this helps you see how you can go from a box on your doorstep to a fully loaded spread! When you're planning your next tasting moment, make it easy on yourself and order a cheese box that's going to do the heavy lifting for you! You can browse all our boxes here, and of course, you can purchase our cheese a la cart if you want to build your own combo! If you create a tasting board using one of our tasting boxes, tag us on social with #myfacerockcheeseboard so we can share it!
