This danish braid is loaded with delicious saucy apples and a slightly sweet spread made with our unique cranberry walnut cheddar. Crescent roll dough helps this come together in no time!
4 oz cream cheese
2 TB powdered sugar
4 oz shredded Cranberry Walnut Cheddar
3 apples, cored, peeled and roughly chopped
1/3 cup sugar
¼ cup water
1 tsp cinnamon
1 can packaged crescent rolls
Preheat oven to 375
Place apples, sugar, water and cinnamon in a medium size sauce pan. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer for 8-10 minutes or until the apples are soft but still slightly chunky.
Blend together cream cheese, Cranberry Walnut Cheddar, and powdered sugar until smooth. A food processor or using a mixer with the paddle attachment works great, or mix by hand.
Open the crescent rolls and unroll onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Press the seams of the rolls together, stretching the dough slightly so that it’s approximately 7 x 10.
Spread the cheese mixture down the middle of the dough, leaving a border of dough about 1.5 – 2” on each side. Spread the apple mixture on top of the cheese mixture.
Fold the edges of the dough over. You can choose to overlap the dough, or leave a small channel in the middle.
Bake 11-13 minutes or until golden brown.
Let cool slightly, slice and serve.
