Waffled Face Rock Cheddar

All the melty, crispy goodness of fried cheese, none of the fryer mess! Waffle up a batch of Face Rock cheddar for an easy, delicious snack.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

¼ teaspoon black pepper

6-oz 12-month Aged Face Rock Cheddar (In Your Face is excellent here!), sliced about 1/2 inch thick

2 large eggs

1/2 cup panko crumbs

Directions

  1. Preheat waffle iron to medium.
  2. In a shallow bowl or plate, mix flour, paprika and black pepper.
  3. Place eggs in a second plate or bowl and lightly beat. Place panko crumbs in a third shallow dish.
  4. For each slice of cheddar, coat in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
  5. Place on a parchment paper covered baking sheet, and freeze for 10 minutes.
  6. Open the waffle iron, and place four slices of cheese – giving each one some room. Close lid and cook until golden brown, 1-2 minutes. Repeat with remaining slices.
  7. Serve immediately.

12 Month Aged Cheddar: Our 12 month Aged Cheddar is creamy with a slight nutty flavor. It is a medium cheddar,  full of creamy cheddary flavor- yet without the bite that you’ll find in the sharper versions. Low in moisture, this cheddar is great on its own or with your favorite foods.
