Face 2 Face Italian Beef Sandwich

We love a good, cheesy Italian Beef sandwich! These warm sandwiches are in the same family as a French Dip, but make no mistake that they are very different sando experiences (google Italian Beef vs French Dip for some fantastic history and debate on this topic!!). For this sandwich, beef is cooked in savory Italian herbs, sliced thin and warmed up in rich pan jus before the sandwich is assembled with roasted peppers. There are many variations for recipes that range from fully scratch to fast and tasty. We’re aiming for somewhere in the middle to make this a really easy weekday lunch or dinner.

We built our sandwich on a base of French Rolls transformed into flavorful garlic cheese bread with compound butter and melted Face 2 Face Cheddar. French Rolls have excellent jus absorbing qualities, but if you have a favorite roll, go ahead and go with it! We recently discovered that our local retail deli counter now carries Italian Style roast beef, which got us a long way towards the full flavor profile we were looking for. If you can’t find it, regular deli roast beef will work just great. You can add Italian herb blend to your jus to pump up the Italian flavor!
