All the melty, crispy goodness of fried cheese, none of the
fryer mess! Waffle up a batch of Face Rock cheddar for an easy, delicious
snack. Don't skip the freezing step!!
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
¼ teaspoon pepper
Aged Face Rock Cheddar, sliced about 1/2 inch thick
2 large eggs
1/2 cup panko crumbs
Preheat waffle iron.
In a shallow bowl or plate, mix flour, paprika and black pepper.
Place eggs in a second plate or bowl and lightly beat. Place panko crumbs in a third shallow dish.
For each slice of cheddar, coat in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
Place on a parchment paper covered baking sheet, and freeze for 10 minutes.
Open the waffle iron, and place as many slices of cheese as will fit. Give each one some room.
Close lid and cook until golden brown, and the cheese doesn't separate when the lid is lifted. About 2-3 minutes. Repeat with remaining slices.
Serve immediately with warm marinara or fry sauce
