Chaffled Cheddar Curds
Have you chaffled yet? A chaffle is an egg and cheese waffle concoction that has been making the low carb rounds. But staying home during COVID-19 has me trying out all kinds of kitchen distractions and chaffles caught my eye recently.
I got my hands on a cute mini waffle maker (regular waffle maker is totally fine), and started playing around with my bag of Vampire Slayer Curds. An egg, a quarter cup of crumbled cheese curds, and five minutes later and…I’m in love.
Cheese curds are baby cheddar bits pulled right out of the vat. High moisture and high milkfat makes these chunks of cheese goodness melt in no time flat. Our special garlic seasoning packs just the right punch of flavor and has made these curds one of our top sellers.
Mixing up chaffles is as simple as beating an egg, and mixing in a half cup of crumbled cheese curds or finely grated block cheddar. The mini waffle maker will take about a quarter cup of batter. I overloaded mine the first time, but other than a little egg overflow it turned out fine! Let the chaffle cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until it’s brown and crispy. Remove the chaffle and -this is important – let it sit for a minute to firm up. That’s it!
After my first trial of just egg and curds, I added in a bit of chopped red onion and bacon and I think I’m now addicted! Looking forward to finding all the ways I can add Face Rock Chaffles to my plate!
